How to create an icon on a line with URL

This article describes how to put your own icon to be shown in line with URL. Procedure of creation and use of such image is actually very simple. The necessary image is stored in a file favicon.ico which should be in a root of your site. Recommended sizes of the image should be 16?16 pixels and it you should use maximum of 16 colors. However, it is possible to create an icon with the sizes 32?32 and 48?48 pixels. In the latter case IE itself will change the sizes of the image. After you have created a file favicon.ico, place it in the root catalogue of your server, and the work is done.

If you, for any reasons cannot place the given file in a root of the site use the instruction below. Besides, if you want the icon to show up not only on root URL of your website, you should copy a file favicon.ico to all directories of a site.

To create such icon on a server it is necessary to prepare drawing in the size 16×16 (32×32) and to convert it to an .ICO format in a root directory of the site with a name favicon.ico.

However your provider should be registered with mime type for type of files ICO. To check it simply: it is necessary to try to load in a browser a file – for example, yahoo.com/favicon.ico – if the text is loaded – means, mime-type for.ico is not registered. Basically, it is possible not to strain the provider and register mime-type in an .htaccess file if it is accessible to you to change.

How To Create A Website Yourself, Without Having Any Technology Knowledge

Article by ajay kumar

Almost all small business’s who have websites, hired a website design company, to create the site for them. You tell the companies what you want the site to look like, and then they create it for you.

There are two main problems with this however:

1) Price – Web design companies are extremely expensive. They often charge thousands of dollars to create the website for you. For large business’ this is fine. They can afford to pay this much money. Small business’ however are not able to afford this, or at least they would rather not have to pay this much. For more details go to http://www.instant-audio-mastery.com. You can make this slightly more affordable; by using a WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get). This is software which allows you to create a website yourself, without having to have any technology knowledge. It allows you to create a website, by simply pointing, clicking, and typing. The equivalent would probably be like using Microsoft Word to create a document.

WYSIWYG’s aren’t quite as expensive as hiring a web design company, however they are still quite expensive. To buy a descent WYSIWYG, you should expect to pay 0-0.

2) Additional Requirements – Unfortunately many people falsely assume that hiring a web design company is all that’s required to create a website. This however is not true. There are still many other requirements. The main two are: a) Web Hosting-Business’ who want to create a website, and have already hired the web design company, still need to find someone to host the website for them. When a web design company finishes creating the website, it doesn’t actually go on the internet so others can see it. It just sits their on you’re computer, or theirs. You must find someone who can host the website for you. This allows the website to go on the internet. b) Promotion-After you site is online; people are not instantly going to find it. People won’t just do searches for your keywords and instantly stumble upon your site. In fact the major Search Engines like Yahoo and Google won’t even no that you exist. You must figure out ways to promote your site. The way that Search Engines find out about you is when people link from their site to yours. The Search Engines judge a sites worth primarily by how many links, and the quality of links pointing back to a site.

There are many methods of building links, such as submitting your site to directories, posting in forums, doing link exchanges, buying links (which Google no longer allows), making comments on blogs, etc. There are also other companies which you can hire to do link building. To know more about it login to http://www.master-web-graphics.com. These people however also are very expensive, and depending on how much link building you want done, can cost even more than the web design companies.

There are some tools that you can use to make this easier to do. You can purchase certain software, which will show you what keywords to use for your site, and how you should change certain keywords to others. You can also purchase software that submits your site to all the major Search Engines. This also can be expensive, and you will again have to pay thousands of dollars to buy all of the software that you need.

How to blog: a step by step guide to create and market your blog

A blog is a type of website or part of a website. A bog is often maintained by someone making regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Most blogs are interactive, allowing visitors to leave comments and even message each other via widgets on the blogs and it is this interactivity that distinguishes them from other static websites. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability of readers to leave comments in an interactive format forms a large part of a blog.

The most important part of any blog is what you have to say and how you say it. People will inevitably return to your blog if the subject you write about and the style in which you write it appeals to them. With that in mind, your blog should be written in a tone appropriate to your blog topic. Keep it personable so as to invite interaction through blog comments and links back to your blog from other bloggers who like what you write.

If you’re setting up a blog with the intention of making money, you need to find a profitable niche. Let’s assume that selling hair care products is a potentially profitable niche. A possible search term that someone might use for a hair care product might be “hair care shampoo,” so an appropriate domain name would be haircareshampoo.com. You can check domain name availability at and you can also purchase your domain name there.

There are a number of popular blogging software around, including Blogger and Wordpress. My favorite is Wordpress – in fact I created this blog using Wordpress, and that’s the one I’m going to use to help you setup your blog – it’s very simple to use, and it has many powerful features including plug-ins and a web template system that uses a template processor.

Go to your new blog website. (http://www.yourDomain.com)
Click on “cpanel login.” If you don’t see this then go to “www.yourDomainNameHere.com/cpanel.”
Type in your username and password that you chose when you bought the web hosting. Should be in your BLOG FILE.
Scroll down to “Software/Services.”
Click on “Simple Scripts.”
Click on the WordPress Icon.
Choose the latest version of WordPress. (The highest number is the latest.)
Click “Install Now.”
Select your domain name.
Leave the “subfolder” box empty.
Give your site a name. This is the name of your blog, i.e. “My Hair Care Blog.” Usually the same name as your domain name.
Enter a tagline – caption catchphrase. This would be like your branding, i.e. “The Place Where You Learn All About Ducks.” (You can modify this very easily later so don’t worry about it being perfect now.)
Uncheck the check box next to “Generate Admin Login.” This way you can choose your own.
Choose your Admin user name and password. This is for logging into your WordPress Dashboard for writing your posts and setting up your blog. It’s best if this is different from your cpanel username and password.
Leave “Automatically create a new database” checked.
Check the legal agreement.
Click “Complete.”

]]>

You will then receive a confirmation email from BlueHost (your web host) with the username and password you chose, plus any other information you might need.

The Wordpress Dashboard is where you control everything about your blog including writing posts and customizing the look of your blog.

To login, go to: “YourDomain.com/wp-admin” in your browser.
Enter your WordPress Dashboard Login username and passsword that you set up in Step#5.

It’s important that you create a design that reflects the content and image of your blog – from your font to your color choices, make sure each element of your blog’s overall design is consistent with your blog’s image. For example, a blog about marketing would be confusing in readers’ minds if the blog design included clipart, balloon fonts and glitter effects.

In Wordpress, the overall appearance of your blog can be determined by the Theme you choose. There are many free themes from which you can make a selection. Other elements that often make up a blog are:

About Me
Categories
Posts
Contact

Under appearance, click on Themes and then Install Themes. From here, you can browse through a number of different themes from which you can select one you’re happy with.

How to Install Plugins
Download plugin and save it on your computer.
Open the zipped folder.
Click “extract all files”
Upload files or folder to “wp-content/plugins” on your “remote server” via FTP on FileZilla.
On your WordPress Dashboard, click on “Plugins”
Click on “Activate” to enable each plugin.
Follow any specific instructions on how to use each plugin.

The following are some of the plugins that I recommend. Obviously, as you get to use Wordpress, you’ll find there are numerous plugins you can use to optimize your blog:

Google Adsense is one of the best ways to monetize your blog.

Out-of-the-box SEO for your WordPress blog.

A plugin that allows your visitors to submit your blog posts to StumbleUpon.com.

This plugin allows your readers to receive notifications of new comments that are posted to an entry.

WP-Amazon adds the ability to search and include items from Amazon to your entries.

WP Contact Form is a drop in form for users to contact you. It can be implemented on a page or a post.

Writing blog posts that people want to read is a matter of speaking honestly and openly about a subject you’re passionate about. The more you promote your blog, the more people will find it, and the greater likelihood that some of those people will read what you have to say, and like it.

Strategies to Drive Traffic to your blog
Email Marketing: send emails to your contacts who might be interested in your blog and suggest that they forward your link to their contacts.
Participate in blog carnivals. Search online for them or check out BlogCarnival.com.
SEO: Optimize your site for search engines. One software I recommend is WebCEO, and there is a free version of it.
Write posts on other blogs for exposure to new readers.
Build links to your blog by commenting on blogs that have “dofollow” links which means that search engines will see those links. That helps to improve your exposure.
Video Marketing – Creating a video for marketing is much easier than you think. The best software used for making a video is Animoto.
Blog Promotion – Yahoo Answer is another great idea of how to utilize the Yahoo! Answer facility to drive traffic to your blog.

Create A Website Design Contract

When you are dealing with clients you always need a sound contract to prevent a bad customer taking advantage of you. I will also explain all the parts of it to help you better understand what it takes to create a good contract.

As with all things in life you will eventually meet someone that will try to take advantage of your skills without giving you the compensation you deserve. If you have a sound contract you will either deter these actions or you will have a good case if you are brought to court. You can use the contract below as you wish, I hope it helps you cover your business like it has helped me cover mine.

The Ins and Outs of a Good Contract
A good contract should always cover you in case your client does something wrong or not originally agreed upon. A verbal agreement is not as strong as a written agreement because it would be your word against theirs. Like my father says, “If it isn’t in writing then it does not count”, words my business lives by.

A good contract should contain the following:

Complete client contact information including hosting user name and password
Both the client’s name and the client’s domain name
Authorization regarding account access
In depth project description and process
Site specs
Date for completion
Agreement that subcontractors can be used if needed
Price estimate as well as late charges and down payment amount
Refund policy
Maintenance and hourly rate (if you have one)
Legal information, for example: non-liability statement, performance clause, and copyright / trademark information
Lastly, a signature with date signed

Authorization regarding account access
This part just says that the client authorizes access to you for their hosting account as well as all accounts you will need access to while working on the website

The client is engaging the designer as an independent designer for the specific project of developing and/or improving a World Wide website to be installed on the client’s web space on a web hosting service’s computer.

The client hereby authorizes the designer to access their account, and authorizes the web hosting service to provide the designer with “write permission” for the client’s web page directory, cgi-bin directory, and any other directories or programs which need to be accessed for this project.

The client also authorizes the designer to publicize the completed website to Web search engines, as well as other Web directories, indexes and to promote [your company name] with a link back located on a visible but unobtrusive section of the website.

In depth project description and process
This part just describes the project coding procedures, and what language you will use. This part just gives details about mockups, content, and credentials.

1. [your company name] will plan, code, and design a website for individual or corporate use to the specifications required by the client. The client is required to either give exact specifications or have [your company name] do their best to meet the general requirements laid out by the client.

2. The estimate describe in this document is only referring to the site specifications given by the client at the time this document was printed. The date can be found on the bottom of this page. Additional work not included with this document will require further payment deemed necessary by [your company name]. If the web site requires revisions the client will be billed accordingly and a new invoice will be issued.

3. The process for the presentation of graphics consists of [your company name] providing drafts and asking for feedback from the client. The client then gives feedback or approves of the images being used before they are put in place. The estimate assumes 2 rounds of this process will suffice for image creation.

4. All content on the website will be provided by the client for [your company name] to use. This content will be displayed as final drafts on the website and should be pre-read and checked by the client before issuing for use with the website. The content should be labeled depending on the placement that it is needed on the site. For example, the “About U” content should contain information about the individual or corporation and be labeled as such.

5. To maintain our portfolio credentials and integrity we, [your company name], shall be entitled to place an unobtrusive credit with a hypertext link to our website in the footer on each. [your company name] is also entitled to reproduce samples of the client’s website in our portfolio and in our marketing material.

Site specs
This part give a simple review of the specifications you will use for the site design and implementation.

The website will consist of html and PHP based design unless otherwise noted. The site will provide general information about the client without the need of consent supervision. The client is required to maintain the website unless major modification is required. [your company name] hold no responsibility for the website after the initial build. We, [your company name], however will provide support and general website upkeep as needed. If the client needs more then general upkeep the client is required to pay a fee for whatever is changed. Please refer to article 2 in the above text for more information.

Date for completion
You must have this so the project does not become a never ending project.

The designer and the client must work together to complete the website in a timely manner. We agree to work expeditiously to complete the website no later than _________ / ____ / _________. If the client does not supply the designer complete text and graphics content for all pages contracted for within six weeks of the date this contract was signed, the entire amount of the contract becomes due and payable. If the client has not submitted complete text and graphics content within two months after signing of this contract, an additional continuation fee of 10% of the total contract price will also be assessed each month until the website is advertised.

Agreement that subcontractors can be used if needed
This part just states that you have the right to hire outside contractors to help you meet the deadline.

[your company name] reserve the right to assign subcontractors to this project to insure the right fit for the job as well as on-time completion.

Price estimate as well as late charges and down payment amount
This part describes the payment plan as well as a down payment and late fees.

1. [your company name] estimates that the cost for producing the website described in the site specification will be $ __________________.

2. Payments will be as follows:
A deposit of 1/2 of the estimate total $ ___________________ is due upon the signing of this agreement before work begins.

A second payment of the remaining estimate total adjusted for changes in the estimate, if necessary, is due upon completion of the site or within (7) seven days. Completion is when the site is finished and all content is added and approved.

Delinquent bills will be assessed a charge if payment is not received within 15 days of the due date. If an amount remains delinquent 30 days after its due date, an additional 10% penalty will be added for each month of delinquency. If an amount remains delinquent 120 days after its due date, [your company name] reserve the right to remove the webpage(s) from viewing on the Internet until final payment is made.

In case collection proves necessary, the client agrees to pay all fees incurred by that process. This agreement becomes effective only when signed by the designer or a [your company name] representative.

Regardless of the place of signing of this agreement, the client agrees that for purposes of venue, this contract was entered into in [county name], [state name], and any dispute will be litigated or arbitrated in [county name], [state name]. Please pay on time.

Refund policy
This part states that is the client does not want to work with you anymore then you can give them a refund limited to half of the initial payment unless they are past the 30 day mark.

If the client halts work and applies by registered letter for a refund within 30 days, to [your company name], [your company address], phone [your phone number], or email [your email address] work completed shall be billed at half of the initial payment, the balance of which shall be returned to the client. If, at the time of the request for refund, work has been completed beyond the amount covered by the initial payment, the client shall be liable to pay for all work completed at the hourly rate stated above. No portion of this initial payment will be refunded unless written application is made within 30 days of signing this contract.

Maintenance and hourly rate (if you have one)
Even if you do not charge a maintenance or hourly rate leave this part in to avoid the explanation of the incurring charges for work not specified in the contract.

This agreement includes minor web page maintenance to the website over a six-month period, including error correction, and general layout fixes. It does not including removing nearly all the text from a page and replacing it with new text, the client can update the site on their own but if you need the designer to do this for you, you will be billed at the hourly rate of .00 per hour. The six-month maintenance period commences upon the date the client signs this contract.

Changes requested by the client beyond those limits will be billed at the hourly rate of .00. This rate shall also govern additional work authorized beyond the maximums specified above for such services as general Internet orientation education, marketing consulting, web page design, editing, modifying product pages and databases in an on line store, art, photo, graphics services, and helping clients learn how to use their own web page editor.

Legal information
This part just talks about the legal information regarding your location and suits.

[your company name] does not warrant that the functions contained in these web pages or the Internet website will meet the client’s requirements or that the operation of the web pages will be uninterrupted or error-free. The entire risk as to the quality and performance of the web pages and website is with client.

In no event will [your company name] be liable to the client or any third party for any damages, including any lost profits, lost savings or other incidental, consequential or special damages arising out of the operation of or inability to operate these web pages or website, even if [your company name] has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

If any provision of this agreement shall be unlawful, void, or for any reason unenforceable, then that provision shall be deemed severable from this agreement and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining provisions.

Choosing a Domain Name – An Easy Way to Create Perfect Domain Name Ideas”

Article by domain name suggestions, domain management software, best domain name

Domain name is the most important factor for generating good volumesof web traffic to your website. A good site name is the key to goodrevenues for your business. However, choosing a domain name is a sortof challenge and requires a great deal of research and patience. Adomain name, also known as URL (Universal Resource Locator), is theweb address that Internet users type in to go to a specific website. In today’s fast changing tech-world, people have extremely shortmemory span as far as remembering website names is concerned.

As a website name leads potential customers to a website that promotesyour business, it is a vital component of online business. Hence, choosing a domain name becomes even more important. Moreover, it isimperative that the website name reflects the kind of business inwhich you are dealing. For instance, if you deal in selling “usedautomotives”, then the name of your website should contain the word”automotives” in it, either as a part or whole.

The name chosen should be short, simple, and point towards thebusiness nature. In the above example, the domain name”usedautomotives.com” seems to be good as it is pointed and direct. You should be innovative and think “out of box” domain names. However, innovations should be based on industry specific keywords and not begeneric in nature. Again, if you consider the above example, the namecan be “usedauto.com” or “usedautomobiles.com”.

Different individuals may have different <ahref=”http://www.TheDomainDashboard.com”>domain name ideas, butthey all agree on keeping it short and simple. The major advantageswith the short names is that they are easy to remember and less opento typing mistakes. A typing mistake can lead your clients to adifferent website that is owned by your competitor, thus defeating thevery purpose of owning a website.

Further, it is sensible not to use hyphenated domain names. Internetusers are not used to in typing hyphenated websites names, and onesilly typing mistake can lead them to some other website. Otherwisealso, it is easy to type “usedautomotives.com” rather than”used-auto-motives.com”. Domain extensions also play an important rolein making the names popular. People often get confused in choosing theright extensions for their websites. Since the inception of Internet, dot com (.com) has been the most sought after domain extension. So,you should opt for a dot com instead of dot net (.net), dot org(.org), or dot biz (.biz).

However, if you are dealing in products or services that are specificto a particular country, then using a country extension such as dot in(.in), or dot uk (.uk) is a good idea. It will attract customersbelonging to that particular country. If you are finding it difficultto choose a name for your website, then you can ask for <ahref=”http://www.TheDomainDashboard.com”>domain name suggestionsfrom experts in this field. Once you have obtained suggestions forchoosing domain names, test them by sampling them. It is known as testmarketing and is the best technique to select a website name. Thismethod allows you to confirm whether or not a particular site namewill generate traffic for your site. Once you have test marketed thesuggested names, select the best domain names out of them and use themfor your website. After all, in Internet world, the name has it all.

Easily create a website for free!

Weebly is (http://www.weebly.com) web host provider, a website which helps others to host websites. The advantage of Weebly is that it has a powerful online website builder with drag and drop interface. Weebly is popular and there is a wide demand for it, because anyone can build website there with easy and fun and add amazing features. The best thing is that they also provide free hosting service with a sub domain (i.e.: http://www.yourname.weebly.com). They’ve also added many new cool features recently and changed the look of the website to a rocking one.

Interface & features of web builder

1.) Designs: Weebly has a great list of designs for its users to choose for their website. The best feature is of Weebly, unlike other online web builders, is the freedom of the user to edit the template, you can even change the pictures and other content which comes with the template to make a unique.

2.) Adding pages: Adding pages is so easy with Weebly’s builder, all you need is to click on the “Pages” button on the top of the builder and add the page by giving it a title. You can also edit the pages here arrange and manage them to suite you needs.

Hosting for free

You can create a free website (and also a blog) with Weebly using their sub domain. The best feature is that the Weebly offers you ad –free web hosting for free (but they’ll pace a footer link)! But you cannot enjoy the whole features of Weebly with this package. You must sign up for a pro-account for enjoying all the features. So let’s check the features of a free account:

1.) Basic content: You can add text just by clicking and dragging the ‘Text’ icon to your page. There are options to add a paragraph with picture and to add picture independently. You can write text with or without title. You can format your text by making the letters bold, italics or underlined while typing it, adjust the size and increase the size of the letters and also make your text in two column .Formatting text is so easy you don’t even have to use your keyboard for this purpose; a few mouse clicks will do it for you.

2.) Multimedia content: Besides uploading pictures for your content, Weebly helps you to create and mange your photo album and add them to your website. You can also add other multimedia contents like video and audio to your website. You can add videos pro YouTube and Google Video. Also add Flickr slideshow, embed Google maps or upload any file so that your users can download them from your website. But for adding an audio player on your website you need to sign up for their pro account.

3.) Adding fun to your website: You can add games and puzzles to your website to make your visitors excited. You can 6000+ games with heyZap , crossword puzzle powered by NY times and other two games to your website.

4.) Other utilities: There are also other many other tools a website must definitely have. A contact form is such a tool; you can simply add a contact page to your website by dragging and dropping it into your page. You can also create Feed reader on your page. Not yet enough for spicing up your website? Then add what you want using their custom HTML tool. You can simply add your HTML code and save it, your unique content will appear there.

5.) Generating revenue from your blog: Earlier there was no way to add Google Adsense on your website hosted with Weebly. Even if you use ‘custom HTM’ tool for adding the code provided by your Google Adsense website, it will not be shown when you view your page (but you can see the Adsense ads while you’re editing the page and you can’t while you are viewing your page). But I somehow managed to add my Adsense using a widget from Widgetbox. But you can easily add ads from other Pay-Per-Click programs and I’ve added the ads of Adbrite just by adding their code using ‘custom HTML’. Now Weebly started to add ads from Google Adsense just drag and drop the Google Adsense icon to your website and they’ll, but you must set your publisher id and other settings. I guess that you may have to share your Adsense income generated from your Weebly website with the Weebly.

Pro account: Pricing and features

Weebly’s pro account is rather cheap and you can enjoy lots of feature using it. Anyway I guess you can’t get a custom domain name by signing up with the pro account. You’ll get a good discount while you sign up for a long term account. You must pay .58/month for signing up for six month, .99/month for 1 year package and .99/month for two years package.
The key benefits of a Pro account are:

1.) Password protected pages: You can create password protect pages, where you’ve added your private content (for e.g. your family photos or others…).

2.) Remove the footer link: As I’ve mentioned earlier Weebly will put a link on our website to Weebly. To remove this link you must sign up for a Pro account.

3.) 10 sites: There are limits on number of websites you can host with an account, by signing up for a Pro account you can host up to 10 websites on your account.

4.) Add the audio player: I’ve mentioned this also, you can add any multimedia on your website for free, but for adding an audio player you must sign up with their pro account.

5.) Upload files 100 MBS: With your pro account you can add files of 100 MB on your website for your users to download. And the interesting fact is that there is no limit on number files you can add for downloading. In short you enjoy unlimited space!

You’ll also get premium support from Weebly by signing up for their pro account.
If you want a web builder by which you can easily create web pages and manage them. And do not want to mess up with your pages and other contents while uploading it to your website, I highly recommend Weebly. You may find other websites with online building tools, but I think Weebly is the best one and it also has several other features. In fact all the features and more a website really wants. So go and catch the Weebly.
